The Gift - a poetic journey
I have called this collection of poetry, The Gift because writing words in rhyme is a gift that God gave to me back in 1986. Until then, I had absolutely no interest in any poetry. I received this gift in a prayer meeting and my head started filling with rhyming words. It was a rap song, called Christmas Unwrapped. At first, I didn’t know where the words were coming from, as I had only recently invited God into my life. I soon realised that this is the way that God chooses to speak to me and who am I to argue with Him?
God gave me such a special gift and at first, I used it as a Christian Rap Artist. I did that for 25 years performing in local schools and events. It wasn’t until November 2020 that I published my first poetry book, Rhyme Time. Since then, I have published three more, Popcorn Poetry (Aug-22), Half Man Half Poet (Apr-23) and The End is not The End (Jul-23). This book, The Gift, is a bumper collection of many of the poems from each of these four books.
I do hope that this book will serve as more than a book, more than a poetry collection and that it will be a gift to you and all who read it.
