In 2023, the audiobook market grew by 39% and over the coming years the growth is said to continue by 25% annually. If you are an author and have yet to venture into this popular marketplace, you are certainly missing out on revenue and the joy of telling your stories.
This is understandable with the average cost per finished recording hour (FRH) being a whopping £590.
To put this in perspective, a 70,000 word novel might be around 10 finished recording hours.
Therefore, a cost on average of £5,900 in total.
If you look hard enough, it is possible to find a studio which will charge just £90 +VAT per FRH.
However, this is still £103.50 / FRH. For a 70,000 word you could be looking at a budget of £1,035.

We are a fledgling service launched in early 2024 and as such our costs are extremely competitive
and we have the flexibility to be able to work with anyone, anywhere in the world, as long as they have an internet connection.
We are currently not registered for VAT, therefore saving you 15% tax on your overall expenditure.
We are totally transparent on all costs, so that there are no hidden or unexpected extras.
We offer THREE OPTIONS.
OPTION ONE - NARRATE YOUR OWN BOOK
As with most other audiobook recording studios, our costs are also based on finished recording hours - FRH.
We feel that you need to undersatnd that one FRH is on average equivalent to two hours of studio time.
Our base studio time is ONLY £25 per hour, therefore £50 per FRH.
If you are able to narrate the book yourself and able to attend our studio (GL10 3HG), this is what you would expect to pay.
Therefore, a 70,000 word novel, read by you, with 10 FRH = £500.
OPTION TWO - USE ONE OF OUR NARRATORS
If you are unable to narrate your own book and require one of our narrators,
we will charge an additional fee of £30 per FRH.
Therefore, a 70,000 word novel, with 10 FRH = £800.

OPTION THREE - DIY
Let's be completely honest here, you could do this entirely by yourself, other people do. To do that, you will need a suitable computer and the right software. Then understand how to use that software and how to save your audiofiles to the specification and quality that is expected by audiobook listeners. You will need a suitable microphone, headphones and suitable accoustic conditions. In addition, you will need the time and ability to learn.
If you would like to go it alone and you have the equipment, we can provide you with guidance via our mentoring service.
